About Ladder 22

Revolutionizing Life Safety Through Advanced Technology

Built by people who understand the fire service.

Our Story

ARGUS was born from a simple question: how do we make sure every crew is ready to answer the call?

David Wensley spent over 30 years in the fire service — first as a firefighter, then as a Fire Prevention Officer at the Burnaby Fire Department, one of the most technologically advanced fire departments in Canada. He helped build the standards and advised on the technology that Burnaby adopted. But even at a department as progressive as Burnaby, the gaps were clear: fire safety plans lived in binders, prevention and operations were disconnected, and crews were expected to do pre-incident planning without the tools or data to support it. It's a challenge every fire department in the country faces.

David had the vision — he started giving crews building-specific data so they could begin creating pre-incident plans. He and another FPO launched a training program, taking firefighters into buildings to walk the systems firsthand. But without the right technology, even the best intentions hit a ceiling.

Jake saw the problem differently. He understood that fire departments don't have the budget to build custom technology — so he designed a business model that makes the platform free for every fire department. Building owners pay a nominal annual fee, the municipality generates compliance revenue, and the fire service gets the intelligence system it should have had decades ago. No budget approval needed.

Jake built the entire platform from scratch — the AI review engine, the owner portal, the FPO dashboard, ARGUS Respond, and the 3D building models. ARGUS doesn't just digitize paper — it creates an intelligence program that connects fire prevention to emergency response for the first time.

Over 30 years in the fire service — first as a firefighter on the front lines, then as a Fire Prevention Officer at the Burnaby Fire Department, one of Canada's most technologically advanced departments. David built fire prevention standards, advised on technology adoption, and designed the building-specific data system that ARGUS is built on. He pioneered giving crews the data they needed for pre-incident planning and launched hands-on training programs, taking firefighters into buildings to walk fire protection systems firsthand. He designed resources to answer every question building owners had about fire safety plans, created custom fire department symbols when NFPA standards weren't good enough, and pushed for building-specific intelligence at a time when the rest of the industry was still using generic forms. ARGUS is the technology that brings his vision to life.

Founder of Ladder 22 Inc. and the architect behind ARGUS. Jake designed the business model that makes the platform free for every fire department — understanding that budget constraints are the number one barrier to adoption. By charging building owners a nominal fee and enabling municipalities to generate compliance revenue, he removed the financial barrier that has kept fire departments stuck on outdated systems. Jake built the entire platform from scratch: the AI-powered review engine, owner and FPO portals, ARGUS Respond, 3D building models, and the compliance tracking system. From architecture to deployment, he turns decades of fire service knowledge into the advanced technology the industry has been waiting for.

What Drives Us

🚒

Fire Service First

Every feature exists because a firefighter or FPO needed it. We don't build for investors — we build for the people doing the job.

Close the Gap

Prevention and operations have been disconnected for decades. ARGUS bridges them — what gets reviewed in the office reaches the crew on the truck.

🚀

The Future Is Now

The fire service deserves the same caliber of technology every other industry has. We're building it — AI, 3D models, real-time intelligence, delivered to every apparatus.
