Our Story
ARGUS was born from a simple question: how do we make sure every crew is ready to answer the call?
David Wensley spent over 30 years in the fire service — first as a firefighter, then as a Fire Prevention Officer at the Burnaby Fire Department, one of the most technologically advanced fire departments in Canada. He helped build the standards and advised on the technology that Burnaby adopted. But even at a department as progressive as Burnaby, the gaps were clear: fire safety plans lived in binders, prevention and operations were disconnected, and crews were expected to do pre-incident planning without the tools or data to support it. It's a challenge every fire department in the country faces.
David had the vision — he started giving crews building-specific data so they could begin creating pre-incident plans. He and another FPO launched a training program, taking firefighters into buildings to walk the systems firsthand. But without the right technology, even the best intentions hit a ceiling.
Jake saw the problem differently. He understood that fire departments don't have the budget to build custom technology — so he designed a business model that makes the platform free for every fire department. Building owners pay a nominal annual fee, the municipality generates compliance revenue, and the fire service gets the intelligence system it should have had decades ago. No budget approval needed.
Jake built the entire platform from scratch — the AI review engine, the owner portal, the FPO dashboard, ARGUS Respond, and the 3D building models. ARGUS doesn't just digitize paper — it creates an intelligence program that connects fire prevention to emergency response for the first time.
